About Our Cremation Rings for Ashes

Each of these lovely cremation ring creations contains a small amount of cremation ash (1/4th a teaspoon) from your loved one. Our cremation rings for ashes are handmade with the cremation ash added at time of formation. Cremation ashes need to be sent in for pet cremation rings and human ash cremation rings.

The majority of our ash rings are for women (as you might have guessed) but we also do have a lovely collection of cremation rings for men. Our metallic rings are made from .925 Sterling Silver other than our memorial titanium ring.

Our memorial rings range in size, with different rings having different cremation ring sizing. Most of our rings are carried in sizes 6-10, but each ring does have different sizes available. You can select the ring size from a dropdown on the listing.

If applicable, you can either pick the color via a dropdown or write in the color via a text-field. For our mica and opal cremation rings, we offer dozens of colors allowing you to create the unique cremation ring.

If you do not know your ring size, we suggest getting professionally sized by your local jeweler. Please note our rings can't be resized easily so please double check your ring size prior to purchasing.

Ordering Cremation Rings

To order, simply add to cart and check out.  Once you place your order, we'll send you a free collection kit for the ashes. Once returned, please plan on up to 6 weeks for your order to be shipped back. You'll have the opportunity at that time to place a secondary order if remaining cremation ashes are available.

Our memorial rings have 30 day warrantee from date of receipt.

Please review 'How To Order' for additional information or email us at hello@spiritpieces.com

Caring for Cremation Rings

Like all jewelry, be careful not to expose your jewelry to harsh chemicals, chlorinated water, or salt water. Our memorial jewelry is primarily sterling silver which will quickly tarnish in such environments.

  • To clean our glass marble silver memory rings pop the marble out and quickly polish with a silver polishing cloth or immerse in a silver polishing solution.
  • To clean resin based ash rings with cremation ash only use a silver polishing cloth to remove the tarnish. You'll also want to make sure you avoid rubbing over the resin as it will blemish the resin surface.

If a resin ash ring is dulled try lightly buffing the surface and then rubbing a small amount of wax (we suggest car wax) over the surface. If you still have a cloudy resin surface, contact us for further instructions.

For day-to-day care, rinse with tap water and a soft towel and a bit of soap. Our memorial jewelry can join you in the shower, but if you're using conditioners or other harsh cleaners it's best to take your jewelry off. We also suggest taking your jewelry off while you sleep.

What Size Jewelry Ring Am I?

If you are unsure what size you are we strongly suggest visiting a local jeweler.  Some other considerations you should take into account are if your hands have a tendency to swell or if you recently lost a lot of weight.  In both cases, we would suggest sizing up.

For more thoughts on figuring out your best size, we've found this guide by Kay's Jeweler's useful.  Looking for a 'jeweler near me?' - we suggest googling local jewelers.

How are Cremation Rings Made?

Our cremation rings hold the cremation ash either in glass marbles or embedded in crystal resin.  With glass, a few grains of cremation glass are rolled into the marble at time of formation, with the marble set into a sterling silver setting.

With crystal resin, we mix the resin with a decorating agent, such as colorful crushed opal or mica.  Once this layer is set, we mix in cremation ash into the ring's bezel, and then cure it.  This is a very hard resin layer which resists scratches and wear, but as mentioned above best to avoid harsh chemicals and sunlight. In some circles this is known as epoxy jewelry.

Does .925 Sterling Silver Tarnish?

The vast majority of our cremation rings are Sterling Silver so often we get questions if our rings will tarnish.  While some of our silver cremation rings are Rhodium plated, the majority are not and will tarnish slowly in most environments.  I say most as in a few cases if the environment is exposed to certain chemicals tarnishing can happen faster.

If your ring does tarnish, in almost all cases a quick treatment with a silver polishing cloth will take that tarnish right off.  In severe cases, a trip to your jeweler to get your ring polished may be warranted.

And what about Rhodium plated rings or 14K gold plated cremation rings? In most cases, these rings will not tarnish or if they do, will do so at a much slower rate than .925 sterling silver rings.

What Causes Tarnishing?

Tarnishing is caused when silver oxidizes with the hair. This is usually represented by a layer of black grime on your sterling silver memorial ring.

Can You Get Sterling Silver Jewelry Wet?

The short answer is yes, you can but only with non-chlorinated or freshwater.  You do not want to expose sterling silver jewelry to saltwater or pool water as this will damage the silver.

Do you Provide Custom Cremation Ring Designs?

Unfortunately at this time we do not provide custom memorial rings.  If you can't find something you like on our site and it is a custom design you're thinking of it would be best to consult with a local jeweler.

Is There a Certain Finger to Wear Cremation Rings On?

To our knowledge there's not a culturally specific finger to wear cremation rings on.  Our customers have shared pictures wearing Spirit Piece memorial rings on all fingers (and toes.)

Where Can I find Cremation Rings Near Me?

Unfortunately the purchase of rings for cremation ash is a nitche business and many jewelry stores won't carry memorial rings.  For this reason you can of course purchase from Spirit Pieces, or your can check out Amazon or Etsy for your ring purchasing needs.

Do you offer Cremation Rings for Men?

We have a lovely titanium ring you can put ashes into that we find is particularly appealing to men.  Beyond  this, some of our more simplistic designs are better for men than the rings with gems and zircons.
