I started making Sharing Stones when my father, Bob Williams, died unexpectedly. Dad loved traveling and especially loved fly fishing. The thought of him being stuck on a shelf in an urn didn’t feel right, so my husband David came up with the idea of creating skipping-type stones. We shared these with family and friends, encouraging people to take him on their adventures. I keep a map of his after-death travels, and to date he has been placed in 35 states and 12 countries. He even rode across the country with his favorite writer, Peter Jenkins, bouncing along on the front seat as Peter drove from Oregon to Florida, where he placed Dad’s rock in a beautiful fishing spot.
I have been honored to create touchstones for thousands of people over the last 10 years, and working with Spirit Pieces is the perfect fit for me. Creating beauty from ashes brings comfort to grieving families, and it is the most rewarding work I have ever done.
