This lovely pendant contain a single preserved petal from roses displayed at funerals, wakes, or other memorial events. We recommend submitting red-toned roses as they will best hold their color; softer tones such as yellow and pink will appear more muted. This is a thin pendant, as each side of the rose petal has been layered with transparent resin.
FLOWER PRESSING INSTRUCTIONS
- Place the flowers or petals between 2 sheets of parchment paper. The parchment paper is used to absorb excess moisture from the blooms as they dry out. Arrange the flowers so that none of their petals or leaves are bent or crushed. If you don't have parchment paper, coffee filters generally have the same effect.
Set the sheets between the pages of a heavy book. Use a book that is large enough to completely cover the flowers. If the ends stick out of the book, they will not be pressed. Put the flowers toward the end of the book, so that the bulk of the book's weight will rest on top of the flowers.
Stack on 2-3 more books to provide extra weight. Again, choose heavy books in order to provide the most weight. Stack them somewhere where they will not be disturbed or easily knocked over.
Leave the flowers alone for 1 week to allow them to fully dry. We recommend setting a reminder on your calendar to check the flowers after a week or two have passed to see if they are done. They should feel similar to fine tissue paper. If they aren't done yet, carefully shut them back into the book for another week to continue pressing them.
